The Old Barracks of Former Taiwanese Second Infantry Regiment

Most parts of Kuang-Fu Campus of NCKU were the barracks of Former Taiwanese Second Infantry Regiment. Military use of the site continued from 1904 to 1966. In 1966, NCKU received all the facilities and transferred the original barracks into educational use. Yet, along the development of NCKU, only five barracks have remained until now. Among them, the headquarters building and two barrack buildings constructed in 1911have been highly regarded with historical value. Of the efforts to keep the Japanese army healthy in Taiwanˇ¦s tropical environment, the buildings were the result the Japanese had offered, presenting some fairly new techniques.
