Fort Provintia(Chih-Kan Lou)

Fort Provintia was originally built by the Dutch East India Company (VOC, Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie) in 1653. Because the land in An-Ping was limited, the VOC built Fort Provintia in the present-day central area of Tainan City, looking at Fort Zeelandia in An-Ping from an inland sea. However, after the VOC left Taiwan in 1661, Fort Provintia was once deserted. In the 19th century, the foundation of the former Dutch Fort was exploited by Chinese as temples and school, and the name was changed into Chih-Kan Lou. But we can still find the main gate of Fort Provintia nowadays.
